General Kael

Yesterday,

I saw a man

with a skull for a face.

When I looked more closely,

I saw it was a mask

and I asked him

if

he was the general from Willow.

He said

I was the first person to get it,

and I felt

a lot of relief in his voice.

Imagine putting on a costume every day

and every day

everyone

thinks it isn’t a costume,

and when you

do

put on a costume,

still

no one gets it.

What’s a man supposed to do?

Anyway,

for a moment,

through the mask,

I think,

the man felt like maybe he

didn’t need

a costume,

that maybe he wasn’t even wearing a costume.
